Texas Star meets Fleur-Di-Lis

Christopher and Ragan live and met in Dallas but decided to have their wedding in Ragan's hometown of Lafayette, LA. To incorporate the marriage of two distinct cultures, Christopher designed the logo that would carry through the entire wedding, "The Texas Star meets The Fleur-Di-Lis." Three days of celebration, 300 guests, mostly from Texas and an energetic group that danced from beginning to end.
The traditional Catholic ceremony was held in a beautiful white clapboard church. The couple's initials outlined in moss and flowers framed the doors of the church. Hundred old oak trees lined the campus of the church, while yellow daffodils, blue hydrangeas covered the manicured lawn. Inside the ceremony area we lined the aisle with candles in tall clear vases and finished it with a pink ribbon.
Following the ceremony, guests were invited to the Natural History Museum in downtown Lafayette for the reception. We dressed all the tables with crushed chocolate brown linens that was shipped from San Diego. Centerpieces by Ty Haines of Beyond Flowers exuded more of an Asian inspired feel, thin branches covered in pink orchid blossoms. We dressed up the museum walls with our own gallery of photos; grandparents, parents and the caption explaining the key players in the photos.
Mariachi music entertained the guests while they looked at the exhibit and enjoying cocktails. Following the couple's first dance song to, "Let It Be Me" by Willie Nelson, Louisiana Reds band kept the dance floor packed the entire evening. Four food stations of Cajun specialties kept everyone happy all night long. The late night snack was Menudo, a family recipe. The bride opted for cupcakes, while the groom asked for a groom's cake in the shape of Allen Field House, a replica of the arena where the Kansas Jayhawks play basketball. This cake was 120 pounds with a score board that moves across the arena.
